Unfortunately for an artist, he must decide for himself what he wants something to be, because if something is seen by three different people, one will like it, one will hate it and one wont even know what he is looking at. I can see your point, but seeing the verse reference should immediately educate a viewer as to it's meaning. Well, that's the aim anyways.
My only thing with this design and the other one is that it could look like you're saying seek first this skeleton guy's kingdom. I know the scripture reference, but others might not. Otherwise, the design is great.
