Design description

this design is a beautiful representation of Easter, with the color choice and title, and the inspiration behind it was to make it artistic, which is why it looks like a painting!

Filters and effects are like "Canned Art", they come of as a shortcut to better design. When you can push a button and get the same result every time, it's like riding with Adobe's training wheels. Anyone that's familiar with it can spot it a mile away. Photoshop Elements is one that is notorious for these quick button effects and filters. Instant NEON can look cool, but do the color separations on that! The same is true here with this painted look. DTG printing would probably be fine, but a screen printer wouldn't appreciate it so much. Like Corey said, "use them sparingly if you use them at all."

is kinda plain, the placement don't help the cool art in the cross, maybe bigger, and sideways like running from shoulder to bottom corner

even if you disagree, always have an open ear and take it into real consideration. it will help you a ton.

and just some advice from a 27 yr old designer who's designed for hurley, burton, kr3w, o'neil, metal mulisha, element, pearl jam, blink 182, metallica, foster the people, etc etc etc, don't be defensive when someone critiques your work. consider it, and if you disagree, then that's fine. but i've seen you get defensive on more than one occasion and it doesn't help you become better. if you want to succeed as a designer, always have an open ear to someone critiquing your work.

i'm just giving an opinion, no one said my opinion was part of a rulebook or guidelines, you don't have to listen to me, you can do whatever you want. but no, not everything is fake, and you're missing my point anyways. it's all good, you clearly have your opinion, your taste, and your way of doing things, which is fine. just trying to help.

I was not going for a "real" look, i was just seeing what would look good, and this came out good, and also isn't everything on the computer fake anyways? i just wanted to design something, and also there is no rulebook that adobe created saying "use Sparingly" as well as canvas, there is no guidelines to filters you can and cant use? couldn't you say that about anything in the design world?

and a better typography analogy would be using a hand-written typeface to try and fake a hand-written look. it rarely looks good. in those cases, yes, you should hand-write it.

i didn't say don't use them ever. but you should use them sparingly if you use them at all. clicking a button called "oil painting" to try and fake a painted look just doesn't sit right with me. not to mention just doesn't look anywhere close to the real thing.

I can tell you right now this is not just a filter, and i also don't see what is wrong with using something that is invented for designing? that would be like me saying i wouldn't use the text tool to make your design, it should be done by hand painting your letters?
